Most people don't think of swim as a sport, but it is much more than meets the eye. Most athletes work hard every day for up to 3 hours, in and out of the pool. Divers also work hard at what they do, and if they don't land right in the water, it could be very painful for the swimmer. I asked a new West Hills swimmer what is it like to be on both Varsity swim and dive.

Name and grade?
-Niki Bryson, Senior at West Hills

What made you want to get into swim?
-I enjoyed water polo and I wanted to do swim to stay in shape.

How do you like it?
-I enjoy it, it gives me something to do.

Do you prefer dive or swimming in the lanes?
-I personally like dive, I have fun doing it.

How are the work outs?
-Some of the work outs are really tough, but I manage to stick through it.

What is your favorite event?
-I really like the 50 freestyle

What is your least favorite?
- I absolutely hate butterfly.

How do you feel about the sport?
-People definitely underestimate swim, its a lot harder than it looks, its not just swimming back and forth. Its a good workout.
